Flock Of Wheels began as a simple idea.

I enjoyed knitting with gorgeous yarns. 'Wouldn't it be wonderful if I could make my own beautiful yarns in the fibres, colours & textures that I wanted?,' was my thinking. So began my woolly journey...

I enjoyed knitting with gorgeous yarns. 'Wouldn't it be wonderful if I could make my own beautiful yarns in the fibres, colours & textures that I wanted?,' was my thinking. So began my woolly journey...

An Ashford wheel got me hooked. The acquisition of Victoria fed my need to spin everyday; at home or away. A short course taught me about what my wheel could do. Consistency & quality of spin came quickly. Time to bid my 'Traveller' farewell, I learned about Haldanes & Timbertops & spinning with double drive. Using older, handcrafted wheels connects me to generations of spinners past, and the manipulation of fibres keeps me grounded in the present. Weaving seemed a natural progression. Using both my yarns, & those from the textile industry, I can play with colour & pattern. Why not experiment with art yarns and dyeing too? At the end of 2024 I moved into a fabulous studio space at Farfield Mill in Cumbria. I can now offer workshops for 2 people, and weave and spin to my hearts content within a creative community. I'm constantly learning and going with the creative flow. Why don't you join me?

Let me introduce my flock, 'the wheels' that help create the unique pieces that I now get to share with you.

Victoria: A foldable double treadle Louet. She's the ideal companion as we travel to beautiful places near & far.

Victoria: A foldable double treadle Louet. She's the ideal companion as we travel to beautiful places near & far.

Cordelia: A wonderful yew Timbertops wheel, she spins like a dream. She has a perfect 'C' shaped flyer. I caught sight of her... and fell in love.

Aurelia: A Timbertops in yew, with stunning golden highlights. She purrs along.

Lewis: was my first double drive wheel. He's a lovely Haldane made from beech.

Ophelia: A maple Lendrum double treadle wheel. She is my go to wheel for spinning art yarns and larger skeins.

My Ethos

My Story

My Ethos

I love working with the natural fibres of wools & silk for their insulation & durable qualities. Materials & equipment are sourced from individuals & small, family businesses from within the UK. I try to keep wastage to a minimum, & seek to use every scrap of fabric produced. Foot & hand power frees me from a power source to be creative whenever & where ever I wish.
